Optimist Park

Space Craft is a developer creating housing with a focus on smart density and walkable neighborhoods in Charlotte, NC. They are working with artists, architects and designers at every level of the process, infusing value into their projects with each collaboration. Our contribution is a set of what we’ve dubbed “architectural touchpoints” — high quality custom components in and around the entry of each unit that are intended to impart a lasting impression and sense of place. We developed a number of designs and finally settled on a suite of three components including custom light fixtures, wall hooks, and an “everyday carry drop zone”— a dedicated home for your keys, phone, wallet, etc. 

This is a project unlike any we’ve previously encountered, but one we’re uniquely well-suited to take on. It’s an interesting kind of hybrid project — site-specific products designed specifically for the client’s requirements, manufactured on a limited basis. It’s sort of a micro-mass-production, on a Medium Small scale. We are currently in production, and we will share more of the project as it unfolds.
