How are your products made?
Our work is made in our own shop and in collaboration with a a community of fabricators in and around San Francisco, California.
All hardwoods used in Medium Small furniture are domestically grown and harvested using sustainable practices, with our timber supply coming only from FSC certified mills that demonstrate and practice sustainable forestry practices. Packaging is foam-free and completely recyclable, designed to our spec and manufactured locally in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our wood is finished with a plant-based, environmentally responsible, durable wood finish. The finish contains 0% VOC and has no effect on indoor air quality. All steel is powdercoated - custom colors available to meet your specifications.
Do you customize?
Yes. Our products are designed to be adaptable, and we can build with custom sizing to suit your needs. In addition to customizing our designs, we also take on custom projects in the form of furniture, lighting, and millwork. Please contact us by email with drawings, sketches, and photos to begin this process.
How do I set up a studio visit?
Studio visits by appointment only. Please email info@medium-small.com to schedule a visit.
When can I expect my product?
Lead times vary based on item and shop workload. Each product has a specific lead time based on the complexity of fabrication, found both on the product page and tear sheet. If you have further questions regarding the production and shipment of your order please contact us by email.
How do I clean and care for my product?
Everyday cleaning is best done with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth, making sure to remove all moisture. A small bottle of surface care spray has been provided with your order, and this should be used for very light soiling, including the removal of any dirt and spills. Solvent-based cleaners such as glass cleaners and commercial sanitizers will strip the finish over time, leaving the wood raw and unprotected.
If the piece begins to look and feel dry to the touch after prolonged use, oiling the surface is recommended. Medium Small uses an ecologically responsible oil-based, 0% VOC finish. A small bottle of maintenance oil has been included with your purchase and can be applied when the wood begins to feel dry. The treatment should be lightly applied with the supplied white scotch pad in small, circular motions. Allow the oil to rest approximately ten minutes, then remove completely with the supplied cotton cloth. Buff with a clean white pad. Repeat as often as the wood appears dry. Allow the cloth to completely air dry before disposal, as throwing out oily rags can cause fire by way of spontaneous combustion.
It is strongly advised that you keep your piece out of direct sunlight. Wood expands and contracts with temperature and moisture, and the exposure to direct sunlight can cause a sudden temperature increase that can permanently damage a glue joint.

Privacy
To fulfill your order, we need some personal information from you, including your name, address, telephone number, and email address. Your data is safe and will not be shared or sold to any other parties. All payment information is entered through an encrypted and secure SSL line via Stripe. This security prevents our company and others from reading or retracting your data.
Shipping & Delivery
All orders placed through our website or directly with Medium Small are packed and shipped from our San Francisco studio. We pack with the utmost care and attention to ensure secure transportation and delivery. We ship to the continental United States via FedEx ground. Local pickup is encouraged. We do not provide international shipping options at this time.
Return Policy
All sales are final as each item is hand-made to order. We do not accept cancellations, order changes, or returns once an order has been confirmed. If a product arrives damaged, please contact us immediately via email to file a claim. All claims must be submitted within 24 hours of delivery receipt, and are investigated on a case-by-case basis.
Quotes, Pricing, and Payments
All pricing is quoted in US dollars and are subject to change without notice. Each quote is issued in writing and is valid for 30 days. We accept payment by check, credit card, or ACH transfer.
Taxes
As a business in the state of California, we are required to charge sales tax on goods and shipping within the state of a California. If you are a California resident with a resale certificate, please contact us to set up a tax-exempt account. Taxes will not be charged on items shipping outside the state of California, with the purchaser liable for reporting this information to their state during tax season.
Warranty
This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, excluding installation, to the original purchaser for two (2) years after receipt of the product. This limited warranty does not cover any damage due to improper installation, accident, misuse, abuse, or negligence. See our warranty documentation for additional information regarding coverage.
